City University Presentation

Yesterday, I was invited to speak on City University’s MSc in Air Transport Management, the potential leaders of our industry.  I was kept on my toes during the discussions.  The attached series of slides were the foundation of the discussions. Today, I have chosen to look at approved airworthiness data: what is it? who issues it? and why it is necessary to the safe operation to aircraft.  As this is a substantial topic I will look at it in 2 parts:

  • Airworthiness management data;

And

  • Aircraft and component release documentation.

Approved Maintenance Programmes

You are still keen on having your own airline; you have started the process to obtain your licences and approvals, you’re are employing an army of consultants and you’re negotiating for your aircraft; it is all done? Not quite! You will need approved post holders for all disciplines; operations, training, airworthiness, ground operations and you as the accountable manager responsible for the whole operation.
