Dear Diary – Chapter 2
It seems such a long time since I wrote Chapter 1 on our progress towards EASA Part M Sub-part G approval; so what has happened since then?
The CAA has cashed our cheque, it seems like that was done, way back in December, they have now issued us with a provisional approval number and assigned us to the Stansted Regional Office. We now need to liaise with them with regard to our project plan towards the final approval, a task for next week. They have provided a check list of actions and documents that we have to supply. The documents are well on their way to being complete; for their first review, there will be changes and amendments, there always are!
We have contracted Conduce Consulting to oversee the development of the website portal for employees and clients; they will be able to access through the portal the airworthiness management system, links to the approved technical data, links to the applicable regulatory authorities and to Basecamp, our chosen project management system.
Having selected two potential providers to supply the airworthiness management system, we were approach by a third potential supplier, who had heard about our plans and wanted the opportunity to demonstrate their system; it was a bolt from the blue! I believe that we are close to choosing our solution, subject to the usual caveats and commercial discussions, more on this in Chapter 3.
The next steps are to:
• Review the developments in the portal, this needs to be robust and fully tested before we present it to the regulatory authorities, we are stretching their boundaries, with our working concept;
• Confirm the selection of the airworthiness management system;
• Finalise the documents;
• Finalise the Team.
We are starting to talk to a number of potential customers; it will make the approval easier if we have a live aircraft in the system! Signing-up customers is not going to be an easy process, but I believe that we have an innovative solution that is cost effective; I just have to convince everybody else.
Watch out for Chapter 3!
